The White Luncheon

Before all of the color infused decor of the Christmas Season took hold, I did an all white tablescape.
It was a visually relaxing moment, almost like a snow day when you are forced to stay put, light a fire and just be still.

I have visions of a hot hearty soup with
warm from the oven crusty bread

I decided not to use a tablecloth or placemats
adding to the simplicity of the setting

The flatware is my everyday.
The chargers are my old favorites.

With all white, you are drawn to the texture
rather than the color and pattern.

The little pine cone salt and pepper shakers
add just a little more texture
to stimulate the eye

The little birds under glass are ceramic
however the nest is a real
found in my garden at the end of the season

I think they like to be photographed
without the glass dome -
you can see them better here

Another angle allowing a better view of the details

  5. I was really drawn to your table, and I think it is because your dishes show up so wonderfully without a tablecloth. You got it just right! Those little birds are the cutest! They seem to be trying to find a way out of the glass!

I also went to your Christmas table. LOVE the green glass and the napkins. Those are just the best.

  6. This is a lovely, lovely table- full of tone on tone texture and simplicity. I think that is what makes such a statement. The pinecone s/p shakers are so cute, as are your little birds w/the real nest. Isn't it fun to find such a treasure? Thanks for visiting yesterday, I hope you'll stop back again. Enjoy the holiday season~ Sue

  7. Love the way this table looks- crisp and clean, yet inviting all at the same time. I agree with Pat- the wood really adds a nice touch and warms it up. And of course, I love the birds in the nest- what a whimsical touch to a beautiful luncheon at the junction!

  9. You are so right about the textures, they just make studying this post like eye candy. I love the textures in the plates but the cake plate, turreen and salt and pepper shakers are like the frosting on the setting.

I have come to your blog via Kathleen's party and will be back again to visit soon. You may not know me but I am a bird lover and the birds in the cloche are the cherry on top :)

  17. This is such a gorgeous set. I purchased 6 of these bowls at a local Home Goods store and love them - they go with a serving tray with stand I have. Unfortunately I broke one over the holidays. The store no longer has them & I have spent fruitless time on line trying to find a replacement. I would be most grateful if you could advise me where I might find more? Janet at jmrn31@gmail.com
